Since Constellix has become available to the general public, we have received many questions about the platform. We put together a list of Q&A’s to clear up any confusion you may have about the platform and its services.

If you still have questions about the Constellix Billing Console after reading the information below, please contact support and a member of our team will assist you.

What is the Constellix Suite of Services?

Constellix is an Internet Traffic Optimization Services (ITOS) company, and trailblazer in next-generation traffic management solutions. The Constellix GeoDNS platform offers enterprise quality DNS query management, engineered for the cloud. The platform is fully integrated with Constellix Sonar, which offers a range of advanced monitoring features and intelligent analytics tools.

Constellix is the only Traffic Management Service that uses integrated monitoring and real-time user metrics to influence traffic routing.

Who can use Constellix?

Constellix is now available for free (for a limited time) to the general public. That means you no longer have to be a DNS Made Easy user in order to user the suite. Please visit out Getting Started page to see how you can signup to become a part of the next-generation of traffic management!

Who Designed and Engineered Constellix Services?

The same engineers and administrators who developed DNS Made Easy to become an industry leader are also responsible for the development and research behind Constellix Sonar and DNS products.

How can I recommend a Feature or Provide Feedback?

Please open a support ticket for immediate needs and thoughts and can also provide feedback through all of our surveys that you will be using. We are asking for continuous feedback throughout the final development of Constellix.

Is the current version of Constellix the same as what will be offered when the service is no longer free?

No. We decided to remove the beta tag, because our developers and beta users felt confident in the abilities of the suite. However, there is still more functionality to come for both platforms in the suite. We strongly encourage our users to provide us with feedback so that during this time we can focus on the functionality you require.

What will the cost be for Constellix DNS?

Pricing is now publicly available for both Constellix Sonar and Constellix DNS.

Do you have an SLA?

Yes, you can download a PDF here.

Does DNS Made Easy plan on stopping services?

No, not at all! DNS Made Easy will continue offering DNS services indefinitely. We created Constellix as an alternative to DNS Made Easy for clients who needed advanced routing features, not as a replacement.

What are the major differences between DNS Made Easy and Constellix DNS?

One of the biggest differences between the two platforms is Constellix DNS operates on a different framework. This allows us to implement advanced routing features that are not RFC compliant, but don’t violate any RFC’s.

Requirements of DNS services have expanded outside of what was originally defined in the current RFC’s. This has required our engineers to think outside of the box, so we could develop a reliable method to overcome these limitations.

This new framework paved the way for GeoIP services like GeoFilters, GeoProximity, and EDNS client-based subnet configurations. These kinds advanced routing features are engineered specifically for cloud-based infrastructure and offer the most accurate location-based routing—as granular as city level lookups.

When will we start billing for Constellix?

Billing will begin in Q1 2017. While the suite is still free, we will be sending users invoices that will reflect the future costs of their services once billing begins.

What features will you be rolling out next?

You can expect to see the following features over the next few weeks:

  • Sonar Integration
  • ANAME records
  • Billing Console
  • HTTP redirection
  • Bulk domain actions including searching, selecting, modifying, deleting, exporting, etc.
  • Bulk domain actions will include the ability to match on one or more attributes of selected domain(s). For example, Name = XXX and Value = XXX
  • And many more...

What is the Constellix Management Console?

Through this portal you can also manage your account information, user settings, user application-level access, multi-factor authentication, and API keys all in one place. Go to the CMC

Why is some pricing not beginning until "the Initial Rollout is completed"?

You may have noticed that some features like ANAME records and User Accounts won't begin charging for services until later. We are rolling out billing in multiple phases, so these features will be free until a later date.
